The Tauernrunde circuit in Obertauern

Fantastic skiing pistes, slopes and highly modern lift equipment

Obertauern is one of the best snow-guaranteed skiing areas in the Alps. That means for you: perfect piste conditions from the end of November to the beginning of May! Right in the centre of the fantastic Salzburg mountain world, between 1,630 and 2,313 m in altitude, there are 26 highly modern lift facilities as well as approx. 100 km of fantastic skiing pistes. For off-piste freaks, this is a unique El Dorado with untouched deep-snow slopes and endless downhill runs into the surrounding valleys.

The Tauernrunde circuit offers an extended tour around the locality, during which you can work your way around clockwise or anti-clockwise from lift to lift. Numerous bridges across the Katschberg road, which stretches across Obertauern ensures that you need never unfasten your skis, allowing you to glide over the white expanse as free as a bird.

A particular benefit in Obertauern is that you do not need a car nor the ski-bus as you can get everywhere with the gondola lifts, chair lifts and drag lifts, from the ski hire to the hair salon, from the shops to the Kindergarten or from the post office to the ski hut for a snack.

Also beyond the pistes, this winter sport region has a lot to offer. Obertauern is indeed a true paradise for all cross-country enthusiasts. The 26 km network of cross-country trails includes trails of varying complexity. One of these is even host to a world cup event thus providing first-class training conditions.
